Cyber Law in India

The Computer Emergency Responsive System was established by the Central government as a means to look after all incoming and outgoing internet traffic from India. The most important purpose of CERT-IN is to control Internet security and many institutions and agencies such as the home affairs ministry, courts, the intelligence services, the police and the head of the National Human Rights Commission are allowed to call on it. CERT-IN's stated main mission is to increase the security of India's Communications and Information Infrastructure through the medium of proactive action and effective collaboration. Currently there is no law to ban a particular website. Only pornographic and some anti political and social websites have been blocked. A committee was appointed by the Bombay High Court in the year 2001 to look after matter concerning pornography and cyber crime. The committee identified some problem and made issues such as licensing of cyber cafe, introducing of ID cards for cyber cafe visitors, rules and regulations to be set by the cyber cafe owners to prohibit minors from using the machines in Internet cafe unless accompanied by a guardian and mandatory maintaining of IP logs by cyber cafe. The committee placed special emphasis on training of cyber cops and introduced Crime Investigation Cell which proved a major boost in the development of cyber law. The most important thing is that all the rules and law where properly implemented. Thus this site and all the attorneys associated with this site are well versed with technicalities and protection concerning the same, apart from providing information pertaining to cyber law.
